Local Product Spotlight
Recently a customer asked us to compile a list of Cornish and UK products, so that they could support UK businesses whilst doing their shopping. With many people thinking a bit harder about where the things they buy come from at the moment, and aiming to support local businesses, we decided to share this list with you too. If you did choose to buy any of these products, you would be supporting a local business - the supplier - as well as us. What is better is your products will not have accrued environmentally harmful air miles.
We have put together a few of our favourite UK made products for you to learn about.
The first set of products are seasonally appropriate, and perfect for snuggling on the sofa with a mince pie and Christmas film. These 100% New Wool blankets are made in the UK and are a lovely quality - warm, cosy and well made. Here is a selection of some of the rich colours we have in stock at the moment.
Next up, and which you may have seen included in some of our gift idea blog posts, is the Kew Garden’s soap and sanitiser. Produced and packed in Sussex, these long lasting soaps retain their smell superbly, are vegan - friendly and are packed in environmentally friendly packaging. This packaging, designed based on the Royal Kew Garden’s is very pretty and makes these soaps and sanitisers into a thoughtful gift.
Even closer to home this time, is St Eval Candles. These are made in Cornwall from high quality, animal free products. Even more so than just made in Cornwall, these are hand poured, so before you even enjoy these yourself, or give them as a gift, you know that lots of thought has gone into getting these candles just right. On our website at the moment we have special Christmas edition candles as well as our usual tealight and tin scented candle selections.
Hopefully this little selection will get you thinking. Other Cornish products that we stock include Josh’s Chocolate and Treaty Jewellery. Becky Bettesworth Prints are also from Devon - not too far away! These funny cards are printed in the UK on recycled card.
Soon we will be sharing some of our suppliers (in addition to these already mentioned) who who put lots of effort into sourcing sustainable materials and production methods for their items.
In the meantime, hopefully you are keeping well and sane in what is hopefully the last few days of lockdown two.
